Device agnostic transcatheter mitral valve repair, TMVr, by transvenous or transeptal techniques in patients with degenerative-primary mitral valve regurgitation

This page provides information on 1 November 2024 changes for transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVr) by transvenous or transeptal techniques to be device agnostic for the treatment of degenerative mitral regurgitation.

From 1 November 2024, amendments to item 38461 will allow additional devices to be accessed for transcatheter mitral valve repair in patients with degenerative (primary) mitral valve regurgitation.

Removing this requirement will allow providers to choose between available devices. This amendment will also allow for future devices listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods to be accessed under this item.
